Planning
How long UAE company setup takes, and what actually delays it
The short answer
Setup runs in stages, not days: activity approval, name and initial approval, documentation, licence issuance, immigration file, residency visas, then banking. Some stages are quick and predictable; document legalisation abroad, sector-regulator approvals, and bank review are the three that reliably stretch. We report progress by stage and never promise a calendar date the authority has not given.
Anyone promising a licence in a fixed number of days is quoting the fastest stage and ignoring the rest. The licence is rarely the bottleneck — the immigration file, attestation of foreign documents, and the bank are.
Sequencing matters more than speed. Starting the bank conversation before the licence is issued, and preparing attestations before they are requested, saves more time than any express package.

Scope of this page
This is for you if
- You have a launch date, a lease, or a client contract to work back from.
- Your documents originate outside the UAE and need legalisation.
- You need residency for yourself or your team by a particular point.
- You want the sequence planned rather than the steps taken one at a time.
This may not be the right route if
- You need a guaranteed date from us rather than from the authority.
- You want the fastest route regardless of whether it fits your activity.
- You are unable to provide documents or attend required appointments.
Decision factors
What actually decides your route
An adviser works through these factors with you before any structure is recommended. Each one can change the licence, the emirate or free zone, the visa allocation, and the banking conversation.

Possible directions
Structure categories an adviser will assess
Durations on this page are shown as placeholders. We give you a stage plan with the authority's own current guidance, and we update it as the file progresses.
Prepare documents first
Attestations and legalisation started before the application, not after the authority asks.
Parallel tracks
Immigration and banking preparation run alongside licensing where the sequence allows.
Regulated activities early
Sector-regulator engagement begins before any licensing step, because it gates everything else.
Corporate shareholders early
Group documents take the longest to legalise, so they start on day one.
Travel-dependent steps grouped
Biometrics, medicals, and bank interviews clustered into one trip where possible.
Renewal calendar from day one
Renewal dates fixed at issuance so nothing lapses during year two.

- Expedited handling that an authority does not officially offer.

Every route is planned against how the business will actually operate in the UAE.

Questions
Frequently asked
- How fast can a company be set up?
- Some licences are issued quickly once the file is complete. The realistic question is when you will be operational — licensed, resident, and banked — and that depends on documents, approvals, and the bank.
- What causes the most delay?
- Document legalisation in the home jurisdiction, sector-regulator approvals, and bank review. None of the three are within a formation agent's control.
- Can I start the bank application before the licence?
- Preparation can start early — entity story, ownership evidence, and expected flows — but banks require the issued licence and supporting documents to open a file.
- Do I need to be in the UAE?
- Some steps can be handled remotely; biometrics, medicals, and certain bank meetings usually require attendance. We cluster them where possible.
- Why won't you give me a date?
- Because the date belongs to the authority and the bank, not to us. We give you the stage plan, the dependencies, and honest progress reporting instead.

Start with a structure assessment, not a package
In an initial consultation you receive a plain-language decision summary, a document-preparation list, and the next actions for your situation. It is not an approval, a fixed price, or a tax opinion.
This page is general information about UAE business setup, not legal, tax, immigration, or banking advice. Rules, fees, permitted activities, and bank policies can change. Final eligibility depends on your facts and the applicable rules at the time of application.
We prepare and coordinate corporate bank-account applications. We do not open accounts and cannot guarantee approval, a particular bank, or a timeline. Each bank applies its own KYC, AML, and risk assessment.
Residency and visa routes are subject to eligibility criteria and authority approval. We prepare and coordinate applications; the decision remains with the relevant authority.
