Operational readiness

Tax and compliance coordination

The short answer

A UAE entity has ongoing obligations from the day the licence is issued: corporate tax registration and filing, VAT where registration thresholds or rules apply, UBO and shareholder registers, records retention, and licence and immigration renewals. UAE corporate tax is charged at 0% on taxable income up to AED 375,000 and 9% above that, and taxable income is not the same as revenue.

Compliance is where the cost of a badly chosen structure appears. A cheap licence with the wrong activity, no records, and a missed registration deadline becomes an expensive clean-up.

We coordinate registrations, set the record-keeping standard, and maintain a calendar. Where a formal tax opinion or audited accounts are needed, we work alongside your accountant or tax adviser.

Scope of this page

Velarozone provides setup and operational-readiness coordination. This page is general information, not legal, tax, immigration, or banking advice.

This is for you if

  • You have a new UAE entity and need registrations done correctly.
  • You want a single calendar covering tax, licence, and immigration deadlines.
  • You need to know whether VAT registration applies to you.
  • You are assessing whether free-zone tax conditions are realistic for your business.

This may not be the right route if

  • You want a tax opinion or a guaranteed tax outcome from us.
  • You want to defer bookkeeping until a filing deadline is imminent.
  • You need audited financial statements — that requires an audit firm.
  • You need home-country tax filings handled.

Decision factors

What actually decides your route

An adviser works through these factors with you before any structure is recommended. Each one can change the licence, the emirate or free zone, the visa allocation, and the banking conversation.

Questions

Frequently asked

What is the UAE corporate tax rate?
0% on taxable income up to AED 375,000 and 9% on taxable income above that. Taxable income is calculated after allowable deductions and is not the same as revenue.
Do free-zone companies pay corporate tax?
Free-zone entities are within the corporate tax regime. A 0% rate on qualifying income is available only to a Qualifying Free Zone Person that meets specific conditions; non-qualifying income is taxed at the standard rate.
When do I need to register for VAT?
VAT registration depends on your taxable supplies against the mandatory and voluntary thresholds set by the Federal Tax Authority. We assess your figures rather than assuming.
Do I need an audit?
It depends on the authority, the entity type, and in some cases the tax position. Where an audit is required, we coordinate with an audit firm.
What records must I keep?
Accounting records and supporting documents must be maintained for the retention period set by the applicable rules. We set the standard at the start so the first filing is not a reconstruction exercise.

Start with a structure assessment, not a package

In an initial consultation you receive a plain-language decision summary, a document-preparation list, and the next actions for your situation. It is not an approval, a fixed price, or a tax opinion.

UAE corporate tax, VAT, and free-zone treatment depend on your specific facts. Home-country obligations may also apply. We coordinate with your tax adviser and do not provide a tax opinion.

Free-zone 0% treatment applies only to a Qualifying Free Zone Person meeting all applicable conditions. It is not automatic because an entity is registered in a free zone.
